ABOUT JOHN GOULD:
John Gould (1804–1881) was a pioneering English ornithologist, publisher and natural history entrepreneur. He produced over 50 volumes of bird illustrations, including the monumental book The Birds of Australia (1840–1848), which catalogued many species previously unknown to Europeans.
Gould's wife, Elizabeth, and artists like Edward Lear transformed his field sketches into vibrant lithographs. This iconic collaboration with the Australian Museum is a tribute to Gould’s legacy – a celebration of the timeless allure of nature, transformed into elegant, wearable art.
